Educational objectives

Knowledge	Freely usable solutions and applications in technology will be given and practiced. The course is directed towards librarians who are interested in accessing and sharing scientific publications, open data, certified statistics. Furthermore, opportunities to demonstrate understanding and competence of using Ai for teaching and learning.
Abilities taught	Various Ai LLM will be introduced for research purposes and instruction sets.

During the course, participants will:

• increase their understanding and awareness of Ai tools.
• assess their digital competences and capabilities.
• learn about different Ai tools available on the market to increase their productivity and lessen their workload.
• learn about organisation and management tools.

After the course, participants will be able to:

• conduct adequate research using Ai
• give meaningful and effective presentations
• conduct interactive presentation
• effectively gather, store and share data
• implement gamification
• understand up-to-date organisation methods and data sharing

Learning assessment

The course will be considered successfully passed if the participants:

1. have participated in at least 80% of the course.
2. have carried out ALL their assignments.
3. have correctly answered at least 60% of the quizzes.
4. Testing and Assignments – Every lesson has a follow-up, practical element which the participants need to complete.

At the end of the course, a general quiz will be given.

Teaching support

Web resources	Information resources, research tools, chatbots, online applications useful for librarians will be proposed.
Material	All material will be given in PDF form or slides shared throughout the lessons.
Equipment and IT	ZOOM, a stable internet connection, a PC or Mac which runs smoothly, Google Chrome and preferably a google account.

– Provide a foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including basic definitions and a brief overview of its history. – Explore the capabilities of AI systems, highlighting real-world examples, while also emphasizing their current limitations to manage expectations. – Facilitate a discussion about the potential benefits and potential drawbacks of AI, including ethical considerations and social impacts. – Introduce ChatGPT as a powerful language model, explain its basic functions, and discuss its appropriate use. – Teach the basics of effective prompting with ChatGPT, including how to structure questions and commands to get the best results.

– Explore AI-powered tools that can help improve organization and productivity. Examples include note-taking apps with AI summarization features, AI-powered calendars, and task management tools. – Demonstrate how AI can streamline research processes. Introduce tools focusing on finding reliable sources, summarizing information, managing citations, and identifying connections between different resources. – Introduce students to the concept of Large Language Models (LLMs) and provide examples of different popular LLMs (ChatGPT, Gemini, CoPilot, etc.). Briefly discuss their strengths and areas where they excel.

This includes the different steps involved, specific software tools used, and the types of data these tests collect. – Students will be introduced to the principles of chatbot design, how to define a chatbot’s purpose, create conversational flows, and use a chatbot building platform to bring their bot to life.
